CCFSS Director Roger LaBoube was recently awarded the 2010 Market Development Industry Leadership Award in Boca Raton, Florida at AISI's General Meeting.

Each year, AISI’s Steel Market Development Institute recognizes the achievements of individuals who have gone the extra mile to advance the competitive use of steel in the marketplace as a direct result of SMDI market development initiatives. The SMDI awards honor individuals representing the automotive, construction, and container markets and steel recycling.
The Market Development Industry Leadership Award is presented to steel customers and partners who advance the competitive use of steel in their own industries and promote new steel technologies within their own companies. This year, we are recognizing three individuals.
In the United States, the name of DR. ROGER LABOUBE is synonymous with cold-formed steel construction. He is the recognized authority on cold-formed steel, with extensive industrial and academic experience in design, teaching and research.
Roger has contributed significantly to the body of research that undergirds AISI S100, the North American Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members, which is the primary reference for cold-formed steel construction. His leadership and participation within the AISI Committee on Specifications has helped to keep AISI at the forefront of cold-formed steel design and advance the use of steel in metal building systems, roofing and siding, decks, rack storage structures and other applications.
Roger has also been a driving force behind the success of AISI’s Committee on Framing Standards. Launched in 1998, the COFS quickly developed a suite of code-adopted design and installation standards to support AISI Market Development growth goals in light-frame construction. Roger has served as an author and editor of design standards, technical notes and articles, and as a presenter at numerous seminars in order to facilitate effective technology transfer.
As Director of the Wei-Wen Yu Center for Cold-Formed Steel Structures, Roger has tirelessly promoted the use of cold-formed steel construction through technical service, engineering education, research and professional activities. His depth of knowledge and eagerness to help others has made him a respected information resource for fabricators, designers, educators, researchers, users and members of steel customer associations.
